This week we visit: Tunisia

Tunisia is an amazing place to visit. Basically, what makes this country so unique is that it’s a mix of everything that makes North Africa exciting. Usually, when people think of Tunisia, they think of it as a summer destination for fun on the beach. But, you’ll be surprised to learn that there’s a bit of something for everyone in the country.

Let’s check out some top destinations you should visit while there:

Cap Bon Peninsula

Those looking for fun in the sun and on the beach will find this the perfect place to get everything out of Tunisia. However, those looking to explore the country’s culture can visit Kelibia’s fort, the old Punic/Roman quarry at Ghar el-Khabir and the old ruins of Kerkouane.

Chott El Jerid

You’ll be hard pressed to find another location in the world as beautiful as the salt pan of Chott El Jerid. It was used in the Star Wars movies.

The island of Djerba is an incredible and idyllic Mediterranean destination. If you’re looking to relax, go shopping and have some great food, this is the place to be. Of course, our suggestion for great noms on the island is to go with sea food always, but then again that’s just common sense in this case.

This is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and also one of North Africa’s best preserved ancient ruins. The settlement dates back the 6th century BC. It’s incredibly beautiful with a hilltop position and monumental buildings and temples. It’s been called one of the country’s most photogenic sites.
