What Not To Miss In Cyprus

In our new Globe Trotter series, Viral Travel reviews all the best places to see, eat, and stay at, in every country of the world!

This week we visit: Cyprus

A hidden gem of the Mediterranean Sea, Cyprus is a major tourist destination in Europe that takes pride in the combination of Greek and Turkish culture, languages and religions. The island country is a dream come true for both people interested in its rich history and those who are seeking to party all night long.

Travelers who want to explore historical and cultural attractions should definitely visit the Tombs of the Kings, a huge necropolis that is believed to be the burial site of Paphitic aristocrats. The UNESCO World Heritage Site, that is located near the Paphos harbor, is not actually the resting place of ancient kings; the name of the site comes from the splendor of the tombs.

Other attractions you will find in Paphos include Adonis Baths Waterfalls, Ayios Neophytos Monastery, and the Kato Paphos Archaeological Park (the Tomb of the Kings is just one site located in the park, there are several other magnificent sites and monuments).

As far as beaches and entertainment are concerned, you should certainly spend some time at Ayia Napa, the world’s second largest clubbing district. Apart from a number of unspoiled beaches that are ideal for people who want to enjoy some quality time in the sun, the area also boasts an incredible nightlife that will keep you up until dawn.
