Despite its relatively small size, Hungary is home to a number of UNESCO World Heritage Sites and offers a wide variety of remarkable tourist attractions. Apart from the amazing nature and lovely villages, the country’s capital, Budapest, is considered one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, if not in the entire world.

Here are the best places to visit in Hungary:

1. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the breath-taking Buda Castle in Budapest currently houses the Budapest History Museum and the Hungarian National Gallery. The monumental building was expanded during the centuries in order to become one of the most awe-inspiring palaces in the world with. Located in the Buda Castle District, you will also find the wonderful Matthias Church, the home to the Ecclesiastical Art Museum.


2. Also known as the Hungarian Sea, Lake Balaton is the biggest lake in Central Europe and one of the most visited tourist attractions in Hungary. Surrounded by mountains on one side, Lake Balaton is the ideal place to enjoy nature’s beauty, explore the area and have fun on the beach.


3. Hungary Parliament Building may seem older, but the grand palace was actually built 100 years ago. The building itself is a combination of Neo-Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque architecture, and guided tours of the lavish interior are available when the National Assembly is not in session.


The most famous shopping areas in Budapest, Andrassy Avenue is abundant with shops, restaurants and cafes. The boulevard is always full of life and if you are looking for entertainment in the capital, don’t miss the opportunity to visit this vibrant avenue.
