This week we visit: Uzbekistan
When you weigh the beauty that you can see in Uzbekistan and the number of people who actually end up visiting this Central Asia country, it becomes quite clear that Uzbekistan might actually be the most underrated tourist destination in the world, missed by most and loved by everyone who has been there.
This country which was once part of the Soviet Union was always on the Silk Road and it brought great riches to this stunning land. Today, there are tons of things to see and the stuff we will talk to you about are just the musts.
Samarkand is the third biggest city in Uzbekistan and one of the most beautiful cities in the world. It used to be center of the Timurid Empire founded by Tamerlane in the 14th century. It still features much of the architecture from the era, with the Registan “complex” being the most famous sight. The turquoise domes of the city will transport you from this world.
Tashkent is the capital of the country and it is a more modern, westernized city if you wish. That being said, it still has plenty of traditional architecture, museums that will wow you with their exhibits and more. The place you have to visit in Tashkent is the Chorsu bazaar, a world-famous farmers market which still has the ability to make you feel like the days of the Silk Road are alive to this day.
Khiva is the third city in Uzbekistan that you have to see and this one is pure history. It is located in the Xorazm Province which was once a Khanate. The city still retains much of its medieval outline, with huge walls going around the city. Its architecture is unique in the world, with those Uzbek blues turning it into something out of sci-fi movies more than a country in Central Asia.
The Pamir Mountains are a must-see destination for every traveler who loves nature and stunning vistas that open the mind and soothe the soul. The mountains are riddled with Alpine lakes, incredible views and you can also see the desert city of Bukhara, a truly unique city that will always remain with you.
