Of course, Indian food has been incredibly popular in Western cultures for a very long time, so you’ve probably tasted it. However, there really is nothing like experiencing the authentic cuisine right in India. Most people already know that when it comes to Indian food, it really is all about the spices. If you like to eat hot and spicy food, Indian cuisine should be perfect for you.
The most popular spices that are used in Indian cuisine include, but are certainly not limited to, cardamom, ginger, cumin, turmeric and nutmeg.
India should also be heaven on Earth for vegetarians, since there are many Indian meals that solely include and focus on vegetables and fruits. Southern India is where you want to be if you want to experience the true variety of all of the tasty vegetarian and vegan dishes that the country has to offer, while the northern part of India does include more meat in meals.
And the sweets are also amazing, especially up north. You will be treated to amazingly sweet dishes that you won’t find anywhere else, things like gulab jamun and jalebi.
India is also known for its amazing breads like paranthas, naans and chapatis. These breads are served with just about ever dish when you are visiting regions like Haryana and Punjab.
When it comes to drinking water in India, you are better off staying with the bottled variety. Alcoholic drinks might also be a problem to find. They are usually only served in more upscale eateries and places that are not strictly vegetarian.
