This week we visit: Scotland

Scotland is one of the most specific tourist destinations in the world, with its harsh and intimidating Highlands, gorgeous smaller towns and the incredibly beautiful city of Edinburgh. It is the place to go for whiskey lovers and those who want to experience tumultuous history first-hand.

There are so many places to visit in Scotland that it would be impossible to check them all out during just one visit. The following ones are the absolute musts.

The city of Edinburgh is easily one of the most beautiful cities in Europe with its historic buildings and a specific bohemian air to it. It is also home to the Edinburgh Castle, one of the most monumental castles in the world, overlooking the city and providing incredible vistas.

Any visit to Scotland without visiting the Highlands would be incomplete. The Highlands area is a huge one and wherever you turn, you will be greeted with landscapes that look like something out of Braveheart, with crystal clear lochs and streams, the greenest greens that you will ever see and castles that will take your breath away.

Luskentyre Beach is to be discovered in the Outer Hebrides, a spectacular beach with blue-green seas, creamy, almost gentle sands and the greenest hillsides you can imagine. It is constantly voted the best beach in whole of Great Britain and a single visit will make you understand why.

Melrose Abbey was erected in the 12th century and it is famous for its incredible stonework, much of which survives to this day. In fact, the dilapidation and the effect of the centuries have only made this historically very important abbey even more beautiful.

If you are not that into history, why not go into the future at the Glasgow Science Centre which cost more than £75 million to build, which hosts tons of technology from the future, a host of the most modern exhibits of all kinds, special effect theatres, the only revolving tower in the world and one of the biggest and best IMAX cinemas.
