In our new Globe Trotter series, Viral Travel reviews all the best places to see, eat and stay at in every country of the world!
This week we visit: India
India is not exactly a place that is best known for crazy night life. Most visitors travel to India for other reasons – to visit cultural and historic sites, explore the magnificent culture and spiritual heritage of this amazing country. Aside from major cities like Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata, India does not have much to offer when it comes to nightlife.
The big cities, however, do have a pretty vivid nightlife scene, whether you are looking for swanky bars, fancy nightclubs or cultural events like concerts, festivals, carnivals and art shows.
Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata offer hundreds of shows of traditional dance and music, complete with costumes and jewelry, of course.
Since India has the largest film production in the world, it is no wonder many of its cultural and nightlife attractions are movie-themed, or, to be precise, Bollywood-themed. The Raj Mandir cinema in Jaipur is the best place to experience Bollywood first hand and even get to participate in the shows. There is also a number of film festivals going on in Delhi throughout the year.
Finally, there is Goa, the absolute must for all the club scene lovers around the world. It is said that every serious clubber has to experience beach gatherings in Goa and the electronic music festivals that go on for days and days at least once in his or her life.
In addition, Goa is the only state where gambling is allowed (it is illegal in the rest of India) and it has a number of luxurious casinos.
