This week we visit: Maldives
The Maldives are an insanely popular tourist destination. People in this tiny island nation understand that tourists want to eat well when they travel. That is why the Maldives are positively full of all kinds of amazing restaurants with some of the best food you will ever taste.
For one, there is the Ithaa Undersea Restaurant. It is one of the most unique restaurants in the world, 15 feet below the sea and offering the most unique dining experience in the world. Food is also exquisite, boasting meals that will make your brain melt. It is not cheap, though.
Sala Thai, located in the Sala Boutique Hotel, is a quiet dining spot that is popular with tourists and Maldivians alike. As you might expect, it is a Thai restaurant made from ingredients flown in to be super fresh. Every meal there is a pure delight.
Seagull Café House is a true classic, a bistro located not far from the Grand Friday Mosque and boasting a great mix of Maldivian, western and Indian cuisine. The bistro features two levels and some of the best ice cream in this part of the world.
If you are feeling like experiencing a bit of Maldivian restaurant culture, you definitely need to visit Symphony, officially recognized as the oldest restaurant in Male. And while its décor does seem outdated, the menu is packed full of some truly great dishes.
