This week we visit: The Nigeria
Nigeria has been in the news quite a bit lately, and not due to good and praiseworthy things. This, however, should not dissuade you from visiting this fantastic country of extremes and incredible natural beauty. Today, we will be talking about the most spectacular natural sights you have to visit while in Nigeria.
Old Oyo National Park is one of the oldest parks in the country and it boasts stunning scenery, as well as an abundance of wildlife. It is also rich in cultural and historic heritage, giving you the chance to take a trip down history lane of many of Nigeria’s peoples.
If you want to see something you cannot find anywhere else in the world, then head out to the Ikogosi Warm Springs in the eponymous town. Namely, there you will find a warm spring flowing right next to a cold one. This geological quirk is totally unique and many say the springs have therapeutic properties as well.
If you are more interested in wildlife such as elephants, hippos, monkeys, antelopes, crocodiles and everything else you can imagine, then the Yankari Game Reserve is the perfect place for you. The area also boasts a romantic secluded cave, as well as warm springs.
Zuma Rock is one of Nigeria’s most famous sights, a ginormous rock that seems as if it dropped from the skies. It is huge and it is even found on Nigerian money. Local population believes the face that can be discerned on the rock has magical powers.
Obudu Plateau is an area of unspeakable beauty, with rolling green hills, winding roads and dense forests everywhere your eye can see. You will also be able to take a dip in one of the most breath-taking grottoes in the world.
