This week we visit: Malta
There are not that many countries in the world that have an area that is pretty much designated for nightlife and nothing else. Due to its petite size, this actually happens in Malta, where a small quarter of a larger town of St. Julian’s, called Paceville acts as Mecca for anyone who wants to have a crazy time– locals and tourists alike.
Paceville is basically an entire quarter of the town where you can find nothing but bars, pubs, nightclubs, restaurants as well as gentlemen’s clubs, to use the most neutral term. In short, it is a little town of its own where everything is aimed at nightlife.
Paceville plays almost a cultural role in the development of Maltese youth, as most of them start frequenting the area when they are as young as 12 or 13. It should be pointed out that the legal drinking age in Malta has only recently been upped to 17. Yes, you read it right, upped. It used to be 16. In any case, expect a ton of youths drunk out of their little minds in Paceville.
However, it is not only the locals that go to Paceville every night. The tourists are there as well, especially in the summer months when Malta is overrun with visitors from all over the world, especially England, Scandinavian countries, as well as the US. It is a busy, crowded and intense place.
Paceville is truly one of those places where you can just let go and where you can have the best time of your life. It is a true party destination in the fullest sense of the word and it is renowned around the world for it.
In the end, it is all down to you and your preferences. If you are looking for a crazy night out in Malta, there is no place like Paceville. Otherwise, you’d probably be better off avoiding it.
