Jamaica’s Most Incredible Beach Bars

In our new Globe Trotter series, Viral Travel reviews all the best places to see, eat, and stay at, in every country of the world!

This week we visit: Jamaica

Jamaica has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world and much of the social life on the island happens on them. Of course, this has also resulted in Jamaica boasting some of the finest beach bars in the world and today, we’ll be talking about the best of the best.

Our first choice has to be one of the most unique beach bar experiences in the world, the Pelican Bar. This bar rests on “stilts” that jut out of the ocean and is reached via a wooden walkway that always seems as if it is going to collapse at any moment. The bar is busy day and night and the prices are very reasonable for such a unique place.

Another Jamaican beach bar that you simply have to visit is the Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville in Montego Bay, a two-level establishment with everything you might want, and then some. Their margaritas are to die for, as you would expect, and the highlight is definitely the 120-foot water-slide that ends in the ocean.

Norma’s at the Marina is the perfect relaxation spot in the new marina in Port Antonio. It boasts a special kind of calm and some of the best food in all of Jamaica. It also flaunts one of the best views on the island – overlooking the Errol Flynn Marina.

If you want even more seclusion and a truly off-beat atmosphere, then head out to Trelawny to one of the best beach bars in whole of Caribbean called Time ‘N’ Place. It is a tiny thatched bar with just a few tables and a “feel” that you will get nowhere else in Jamaica.
