We all know what happened in Paris this Friday, with a number of coordinated attacks that ISIL has carried out in the French capital, killing 129 people and injuring many more. The city suffered its largest tragedy since World War II and our thoughts and prayers go to the people of Paris.
What we are interested today, however, is whether traveling to Paris is a good idea these days.
First of all, you should know that French borders are open and that Charles de Gaulle airport is working at full capacity. The security screenings are more rigorous and it might take you more time to get off and on planes, but the airport is working normally.
Movement is not restricted in Paris and while there is heightened security around the city, tourists should encounter no troubles whatsoever. Of course, heavier police and even military presence is there, but to be honest, it is something tourists visiting Paris these days will value.
At the moment, there are no indications that further attacks are going to happen in Paris and to be perfectly cynical, looking from a purely statistical standpoint, Paris is probably safer these days than ever before.
The main thing to remember is that there is no room for panic. If you are reconsidering your trip to Paris, make sure to check all the facts and not to give in to scare-mongering, which is something the media are known to do.
