This week we visit: South Korea

South Korea is a stunning country and if you were to explore it in its entirety, you would need more than a single lifetime. That being said, there are parts of this country that are so beautiful and so unique that you must not miss out on them on your first visit.
The first of these is definitely the Seoraksan National Park. It is, quite simply put, one of the most gorgeous parts of the world, with jagged mountain tops that stick out of the clouds, incredible nature and traditional architecture sprinkled for added effect.

If you are looking to experience traditional South Korea, our advice would be to visit the city of Gyeongju. The city was the capital of the kingdom of Silla which met its end in 935 AD. The entire city is a living, breathing museum where you can see centuries of Korean history and actually live in it.
For those who are more adventurous and who want a more hardcore experience, the DeMilitarized Zone between South and North Korea is definitely a sight to visit. The famous DMZ is one of the most unique tourist experiences you can have in your life, with North Korean soldiers staring you down from less than 10 feet away.
One thing that you might want to arrange for your South Korea visit is to make it in October. Namely, in October, in the city of Busan, there is an annual fireworks festival which is simply unrivaled in the world. It is a rather crowded affair, but it is more than worth it.
