This week we visit: Paraguay
When you first visit it, Asuncion seems like a sleepy city, not very interested in nightlife. However, if you have an investigative mind and are ready to spend some time finding the best spots, Paraguay’s capital will show you that there is a lot of fun to be had there in the nighttime too.
Probably the most popular pub in town is the Britannia Pub, your run-of-the-mill, middle-of-the road pub with good enough music, a nice selection of draught beers and crowds that are never lacking. It is popular among locals and tourists alike and it is a great place to go for a drink. Austria Pub has a similar vibe and is another popular spot to get a few drinks
If you are looking for something fancier, then you should check out El Alamo, located in a fancy part of the city just across the Brazilian embassy, it is the swankiest place in all of Asuncion, usually packed with people who are, let’s be honest, mostly putting on a show.
Once you are ready to hit the clubs, you should definitely head out to Piratas and see what’s happening there. It is a (surprise, surprise!) pirate-themed nightclub, always packed, with reasonably priced drinks and something you can dance to blaring from the speakers. Coyote is another nightclub in Asuncion that is very popular, a modern club that does a lot of things right. Finally, there is Faces, the biggest club in the country and a place where you are guaranteed crazy good times.
