This week we visit: Ireland
Ireland has a fantastic nightlife that offers something for everyone – from traditional pubs to bustling city clubs and cafes where you’ll meet amazing folks, eat and drink like the Irish and generally have a blast.
As expected, most people still prefer pubs in which you will find friendly locals, excellent beer, traditional foods and Irish music. However, large towns and cities also have modern clubs that resemble metropolitan clubs all over the world.
You should know that the legal drinking age is 18 and minors are not allowed on premises after 8pm. When it comes to dress-code, some places require smart clothes and will not welcome those who are too casually dressed. Bars are open until 11pm Mon-Wed and about 12pm Thurs-Sat. On the other hand, clubs have longer working hours and you can enjoy yourself until 3 in the morning.
Although you will definitely find a place that suits your tastes, the bad news is that most clubs have an entrance fee, which can go up to $20 on weekends. Luckily, there are late pubs, which are something in between pubs and clubs. They are basically pubs that stay open late, but don’t charge you in.
Finally, the legendary lock-in (place closes, but continues to serve drinks) isn’t just a myth, but don’t count on it as it happens very rarely.
