As cold weather continues in many parts of the country, Americans are ready to leave winter behind and travel to warmer and sunny destinations, AAA confirms. Unsurprisingly, travelers will most likely go to warmer places that offer a lot of family-friendly activities, followed by constantly-popular cities such as Washington, D.C., New York City, Seattle and San Francisco, says Bill Sutherland, AAA Senior Vice President of Travel and Publishing.
“It’s clear that travelers are seeking warm weather destinations this spring as they look to escape the cold after a particularly harsh winter. In addition to great domestic destination getaways, cruises, tours and vacation packages to international destinations such as Mexico and the Caribbean are also popular vacations this spring.”
Theme parks are also very popular vacation options, especially Orlando and Los Angeles. The popularity of Universal Orlando Resort constantly increases thanks to new attractions such as The Wizarding World of Harry Potter and the Cabana Bay Beach Resort.
According to AAA.com hotel bookings, the top spring travel destinations are:
- Orlando, Fla.
- Los Angeles, Calif. (Anaheim)
- San Diego, Calif.
- Myrtle Beach, S.C.
- Miami, Fla.
- Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
- Washington, D.C.
- New York, N.Y.
- Seattle, Wash.
